How I Became Interested in John
Deere Tractors --
By Fred Kleinow
"When growing up in Romulus on Prescott Road in the 30'S and 40'S, Embert
Johnson did custom thrashing in that area. He had a John Deere 'D.' When we heard the sound of that tractor coming down the road we knew
that our turn had come. I had been helping my dad cut the grain
with horses. My mother immediately started preparations for the dinner
the next day. The big thrill was to have that 'D' set in our yard
over night and wait for the sound it would make the following day.
My next thrill came when I was allowed
to eat with the 'BIG MEN' at the table and sit next to
Embert Johnson
---'The John Deere Man'!! To an eight year old that was just about as
good as it could get. From that day on I wanted to be a farmer and have
John Deere Equipment. Health problems took over my body and
consequently all I have been able to do is look.
GOOD HEALTH IS LIKE
HAVING A GOOD RUNNING JOHN DEERE TRACTOR."
