Bruce
Park says "In
the late summer of 1955 my Dad, Bliss M. Park, bought our first and only
new John Deere tractor. The '40U' came from the Robb Brothers John
Deere of Lincoln, Michigan. Although my Dad was very strict, for
some reason unknown, he let me paint the yellow stripe on the hood and
add a different decal to make our John Deere '40U' look like a 1956
'420U.'
Dad and I used this '40U' to farm our 160 acres
until I went into the Air Force in 1966. In 1967 my Dad sold all his
farm equipment, which included this '40U' at his auction. Because
the tractor had a dead battery, the tractor only sold for $600.00.
In 1994, I located the family tractor. For the last ten years I
have been trying to buy the tractor. In August of 2004, I
was able to finally bring our family tractor home for good."
"See the '40U' photo above

Bruce's dog helper, "Haylee," who is waiting help to put the wagon
of hay in the barn."
